Gold Decorated Owan couple

A couple of Owan from the Taisho period, early XX century, decorated with gold leaf details. On the lid, both outside and inside, there are elements belonging to the Shinto rituals depicted in gold. The owan is a traditional Japanese bowl, most commonly used for serving miso soup and they’re an essential part of Japanese tableware even today.
