Kuro Raku Chawan

Kuro Raku Chawan in the style of Shoraku Sasaki, master of the Shoraku Gama kiln in Kyoto, XX Century. The bowl features a deep black glaze applied over a hand-formed, slightly asymmetrical body. Characteristic of Sasaki’s style, the form emphasizes spontaneity and tactile presence, with intentional imperfections and a grounded, earthy feel. The unglazed foot (kodai) exposes the reddish clay beneath, faithfully honoring the lineage of tea aesthetics in Kyoto.
