Benihagi Chawan signed 萩城陶焔造 Hagijo Tohomura tsukuru, with typical white glaze over red/orange background, XX Century. This Benihagi chawan is a tea bowl from the Hagi ware tradition, distinguished by its soft reddish pink glaze (beni meaning “crimson” or “rose” in Japanese). The surface features a milky, translucent glaze with warm blushes of pink and peach tones. The body is wheel thrown with subtle irregularities, and the glaze shows fine crackling (kan’nyū) typical of Hagi ware. Come with its original paulownia box, signed and stamped.
